There are so many ideas about soulmates.
That there is only one. That they will complete you. That you will simply “know” when you meet them.
But the more I reflect on love, connection, and our own inner journey, the more I wonder if some of the things we have been taught about soulmates are not quite true.
So here are 10 soulmate myths I invite you to gently reconsider.
1. There is only one soulmate for you.
Love is not necessarily about one predetermined person. We can experience meaningful soul connections throughout our lives. Each relationship can touch our hearts and teach us something different.
2. Your soulmate will complete you.
You are not half of a whole. You are already whole. A beautiful relationship can add richness to your life, but your worth does not depend on another person.
3. Finding your soulmate will solve everything.
A loving relationship can support your growth, but another person cannot do your inner work for you. We each have our own healing, becoming, and discovering to do.
4. Soulmates never struggle.
Even deeply connected relationships can have disagreements, misunderstandings, and difficult seasons. Sometimes the relationships that challenge us most also invite us to grow the most.
5. You will instantly recognize your soulmate.
Not every meaningful connection arrives with fireworks. Some connections unfold slowly, quietly, and naturally. There can be beauty in allowing love to reveal itself in its own time.
6. Your soulmate has to be a romantic partner.
Some of our most profound soul connections come through friendships, family, teachers, mentors, and unexpected people who enter our lives at exactly the right moment.
7. You have to wait for your soulmate to begin living fully.
Please do not put your joy on hold while waiting for someone else. Your life is happening now. There is so much to experience, discover, celebrate, and love along the way.
8. Your soulmate determines your happiness.
Your joy is yours. It deserves to be cultivated now, not someday when someone arrives. No relationship should carry the entire responsibility for your happiness.
9. You have to become someone else to be loved.
The right connection should not require you to abandon yourself. You deserve relationships where you can be seen, accepted, and encouraged to become more fully who you are.
10. Finding your soulmate is the destination.
Perhaps the real journey is becoming the loving, joyful soulmate to yourself first.
And this last one has been sitting especially close to my heart.
You do not need a birthday or a special occasion to celebrate the aliveness of your life.
You were born.
That alone is worth celebrating. ✨
Maybe that is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves: permission to pause and appreciate the life that is already here.
This November, I am looking forward to creating space for that kind of celebration. A few beautiful days surrounded by like-minded souls, delicious food, gorgeous sunsets, and experiences that invite us to reconnect with our vibrant energy.
Three nights at the beautiful Marriott Ranch, with no expectation that we need to become someone different.
Simply an invitation to reconnect with ourselves.
To laugh.
To breathe.
To feel.
To remember the joy of being alive.
And perhaps to enter 2027 feeling a little clearer, lighter, and more alive.
Because sometimes the greatest love story does not begin when we find someone else.
Sometimes it begins when we finally come home to ourselves.
