Seven years ago, I stumbled upon a contest that changed my life.
The challenge was simple but powerful: “Write your love story and win a wedding.”
At first, doubt crept in. Writer’s block, fear of rejection, and that nagging voice of “what if” almost stopped me. But then I thought about Mike, the love of my life, and the story we had already begun to create together. My entry started with these words: “I jumped; Mike caught me.”
That one choice to put words on paper opened the door not only to winning a wedding but to something even bigger.
The prize itself was incredible: a ceremony under the newly unveiled LOVE sign, a reception, flowers, photos, a honeymoon night at the historic Chilton House, jewelry, cake, champagne, and even a trolley ride filled with love songs. It was truly a dream come true.
The greater gift, however, was the reminder that words have the power to change. By choosing courage over fear, I not only told my story but also rediscovered my writing voice and stepped into a new chapter of confidence. That leap led me toward becoming a published author and, eventually, a coach.
This is what I now teach my clients. Your story matters. How you tell it shapes not only how others see you but also how you see yourself. When you learn to simplify your thoughts and speak from truth, you gain clarity, courage, and the confidence to create the life you want.
Today, I help others find that same spark. Together, we take the stories that hold you back and turn them into ones filled with possibility. Because when you change your story, you change your future.
