There are moments in life that gently remind us we are always becoming.

Sometimes those moments arrive quietly. Other times, they appear all at once, leaving us standing in awe of how beautifully life unfolds when we trust the timing.

Recently, I stepped into one of the most meaningful new roles of my life—I became a grandmother.

There truly are no words to describe the overwhelming gratitude, love, and wonder that filled my heart as I held this precious new life. Watching my daughter become a mother while knowing both she and the baby were healthy and thriving felt like witnessing a miracle unfold before my eyes.

As if that wasn’t enough, another unexpected invitation appeared.

After more than 30 years away from musical theater, I felt a quiet nudge to audition for Finding Neverland, the story inspired by J.M. Barrie’s journey in creating Peter Pan. Something about the story’s message of imagination, hope, and believing beyond what we can see called to me.

The role I was cast in?

The grandmother.

What amazes me most isn’t simply receiving the role. It’s that I learned I had been cast at nearly the exact moment my daughter went into labor.

What timing.

Or perhaps, what my own mother always called God’s timing.

Looking back over my life, I’ve noticed a pattern. The most meaningful opportunities rarely came from forcing, chasing, or controlling. They came from listening. From paying attention to the gentle callings that whispered, “This way.”

Those callings have led me to friendships I treasure, experiences that stretched me, work that fulfills me, and a life richer than I ever imagined.

I’ve learned that our calling isn’t always about changing careers or making dramatic life decisions. Sometimes it’s simply saying yes to something that lights us up again. Sometimes it’s allowing ourselves to step into a new season with an open heart. Sometimes it’s remembering a dream we quietly set aside years ago.

Life has a beautiful way of preparing us for the next chapter long before we recognize it ourselves.

The question is: Are we willing to listen?

When we slow down, trust the timing, and follow what feels deeply true, we often discover that life has been gently guiding us all along.

Perhaps you’re standing at the edge of your own new beginning. Maybe you’ve been sensing an inner nudge, longing for deeper relationships, greater purpose, or a renewed connection with yourself.

If so, honor that feeling.

Your next role in life may already be waiting for you.

The most beautiful chapters aren’t always the ones we plan. Often, they’re the ones we courageously allow ourselves to live.

Trust the timing.

Your story is still unfolding.
